World Mental Health Day

On the 10th of October (World Mental Health Day), Bassanti was a speaker on the self-care panel at “The Power Decade”. The 150-odd individuals she met were all extremely interesting, diverse and inspiring, and it felt like a breath of fresh air that everyone could talk so freely and without judgment. It was particularly wonderful for Bassanti to talk about a topic so close to her heart – the science of wellbeing. We rarely put ourselves first and Bassanti firmly believes that in today’s world of logic, proof and facts, we are more likely to act when we know what our return on investment is.

As most of you will know, Bassanti has practised yoga since her father taught her at age four, but she only found her way to meditation as an adult. She stopped meditating for six months at the beginning of the year and had her best friend tell her she had burnout and her husband say she’d changed as a person. Bassanti couldn’t have asked for a better wake-up call! She started meditating again and got her invisible comfort blanket back. You may know the science behind it, but if you also know first-hand what it feels like to not prioritise self-care, you’re more likely to never let it slip.

If this little anecdote has made you keen on prioritising your and your team’s mental health and wellbeing, then this offer is for you: for November and International Stress Awareness Day (6/11) we’ve got a 50% discount on any one-off session, whether that’s an expert talk on the science of stress release or any other service we offer, from posture and movement to breathing and meditation.

Or maybe you’d like to try sound healing: different instruments are played in order to destress your mind and restore your body’s health. What happens to your body and brain in a sound bath is very similar to what happens in meditation, so if you think your mind is too busy for meditating, soundbaths may just be for you. So book us, lie down, relax and enjoy.

A Sound Investment!

This month Bassanti went all the way to Dorset and back to buy a gong that is unique in the UK and was made by master gong maker Shawn Aceto.

Gongs are mostly tuned to a planet or they’re symphonic gongs. This one is called Saturn but not tuned to it – rather it’s named after photos of Saturn which reminded the maker of the gong’s look.

The sound is incredible and of course sound healing doesn’t stop at the soundthat’s audible to the ears: every part of our body responds to the frequencies played. That’s how sound baths promote cell regeneration and can alter gene description. It’s so much more than just relaxing you in the moment.
